The Easton House is easton house a charming and historic bed and breakfast located on a quaint cobblestone street in the heart of downtown Nantucket.   Originally built as a family home by George Easton in 1812, the  Easton House is now a lovingly restored bed and breakfast in the Old Historic District.  It is close to the Whaling Museum, ferries, shops, restaurants, and Main Street, and is within easy walking distance of Children's Beach, Brant Point, and Jetties Beach.

The Easton House has welcomed guests since the early 1900's and has been in the Ross family since 1939.  The current owners are Cyril and Judy Ross.  They are both native Nantucketer's and are the third generation of family innkeepers.  Cyril grew up in the Easton House, as did Judy and Cyril's three children (now grown).  Cyril and Judy took over the Easton House from Cyril's parents in 1974.

The Easton House has ten lovely guest rooms on three separate floors.  Each of the rooms has its own special character and is decorated in colonial style with beautiful oriental rugs, antique furnishings, old fashioned print wallpaper, original rm2 artwork, antique porcelain dresser trays and many more family treasures.

Larger rooms feature queen sized canopy beds.  Cozy, smaller rooms have double or queen sized antique spool, cannonball, or pineapple bed frames. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and are made up with fresh line-dried cotton sheets.  In cooler months, down comforters or handmade quilts adorn the end of each bed.

Eight of the guest rooms have private baths and two rooms share a bath (1 queen bedded room and 1 single bedded room - perfect for a family or three people traveling together). All rooms are non-smoking and have air-conditioning and phones.  Daily maid service and a full continental breakfast is included for all rooms. There is a 3-night minimum for all weekend reservations. In-season rates are $175-250 per night.  Please call about special mid-week rates!

living roomContinental breakfast is served buffet style every morning in the first floor living room.  This is a warm and cozy room that also serves as the game room and TV room later in the day.

Breakfast includes a choice of cereals, including Judy's homemade granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade breads and muffins, juice, coffee, tea and other goodies.

If you enjoy flowers, be sure to visit the backyard garden! During summer months, the English style garden is bursting with flowers of all types and colors.  The garden is a great spot to unwind.  Reading a favorite book, chatting with friends, or napping in a lounge chair under the huge catalpa tree are popular activities for many guests.

Bike racks can also be found in the backyard for those guests who bring or rent bicycles while they are here.

In addition to the ten rooms in the main guest house, there is also a private cottage available just off the garden. cottage

The Garden Cottage is an adorable one-room studio cottage, covered with roses and overlooking the garden. It is non-smoking, sleeps just two and is handicapped accessible.

The front entrance of the Garden Cottage features a small private porch with a table and deck chairs for guests' enjoyment.

Inside the Garden Cottage there is a complete kitchen/dining area, a living room area with overhead fan, color TV and VCR, a sleeping area with queen sized bed and skylight, and a private bath. It is open and airy, decorated in soft white, teal and rose tones. Air-conditioned and heated, the Garden Cottage is a perfect spot for a romantic honeymoon or quiet getaway.

There is a 4-night minimum for the Garden Cottage.  Daily maid service and a full continental breakfast in the Easton House are included.  In-season rates are $275-$375 per night, depending on length of stay.

Policy Notes:

*Check-in time is 1:00 PM.  Check-out time is 11:00 AM.  Guests arriving earlier or departing later may leave their bags in the front hall.

*We are sorry, no pets are allowed.

*Easton House & Cottage Cancellation Policy:  15 days advance notice is required to shorten or cancel reservations.  Less notice requires all reserved nights to be re-rented.  A 10% service fee is retained regardless of time or reason for cancellation.

*We encourage you to give your car a vacation by leaving it on the mainland.   It's really not necessary to bring a vehicle to Nantucket to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of the island.  Most of the downtown area is just a few minutes walk from the Easton House.  (Parking on the Island is limited and traffic in-town rivals New York City at times!)  Bicycles and mopeds are the main means of transportation around the island. Bike racks are provided in the backyard for guests who bring or rent bicycles (be sure to bring your bike lock).   Shuttle buses and taxis are available to take you out of town, to the beaches and to other areas of the island.
